Lakatos, Köves and Partners Ügyvédi Iroda, a law firm with 29 lawyers, was founded in 2009 and is led by four partners, Péter Lakatos, Péter Köves, Richard Lock and Attila Ungár. The predecessor of the firm, Köves & Társai Ügyvédi Iroda was founded in 1991. In 1993 it joined the Clifford Chance network. With effect from 30 July 2009 the Budapest office spun off from the international network and, became a standalone entity, Lakatos, Köves and Partners Ügyvédi Iroda, which operates under a "Best Friends' Agreement" with Clifford Chance LLP.The office has been involved in most of Hungary's ground-breaking transactions during the transformation and the development of the Hungarian economy. In recent years it was heavily involved in infrastructure development, and the developments in the main privatized and regulated sectors such as telecoms, energy and financial services, and in some of the key restructurings taking place.
The office and its lawyers achieved an outstanding number of top tier rankings and transactions they advised on received exceptional recognition and notable awards.
