Leading Hungarian law firm, Lakatos, Köves and Partners, has been advising Bayerische Landesbank (“BLB”) on the sale of its Hungarian subsidiary MKB Bank Zrt., which closed on Monday 29 September 2014.

The team led by Counsel Pál Rahóty (M&A) and Partner Szabolcs Mestyán (Banking & Finance) involved lawyers from across the firm.

Richard Lock, Corporate/M&A Partner at Lakatos, Köves and Partners, commented that "we have been pleased to assist BLB in bringing this transaction to a successful conclusion. The transaction is a good example of our work assisting foreign investors in Hungary in what is currently a challenging environment, particularly in sectors such as banking (where the firm previously advised Banco Popolare on its sale of its Hungarian subsidiary) and utilities" (where the firm advised Suez Environnement on its exit from waterworks companies in Budapest and Pécs).
